KIMBERLEY CUISINE

Chris Taylor believes the secret to exceptional cooking is fresh, local produce. And the East Kimberley boasts some of the finest, with an array of delicious seafood, home-grown succulent beef and an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables harvested throughout the Ord Valley.

For the third successive year, Chris returns to Kununurra to host Kimberley Cuisine with Chris Taylor at the newly opened PumpHouse Restaurant. Enjoy an afternoon with Chris as he creates a tantalising spread of easy to prepare dishes featuring his pick of local delicacies on Friday 8 and 15 May between 3 and 5pm.

To book your place at this year’s cooking demonstration contact the Kununurra Visitor Centre on 9168 1177 or email. Tickets are $60 per person and are strictly limited.

HIT THE ROAD

In addition to the 50 plus events on offer during this year’s Muster, there’s also an abundance of natural and man-made attractions to experience during your two-week adventure. Here’s the first five of our top 10 things to do in the Kimberley:

  • 3. Cruise Lake Argyle – it’s the second largest man-made lake in Australia and has to be seen to be believed. Check out Triple J Tours for touring options.
  • 4. Drive the Gibb – a 600km long ’bush track’, the Gibb allows superb access to the virtually untouched natural assets of the Kimberley wilderness. Some of the most spectacular scenery on earth can be found here as you travel through King Leopold Range, Philips Range, Barnett Range, Gibb Range, Mosquito Hills, Pentecost Range and Cockburn Range.

FREE EVENTS

Don’t forget there are plenty of things to see and do around Kununurra during the Muster for free (or the cost of a gold coin donation). Here’s just a taste:

  • Muster Bar - free entertainment nightly at the Kununurra Country Club Resort.
  • Wild Walks - explore the spectacular Mirima National Park with experienced guide, Wendy Carter.
  • Muster Idol - belt out a classic and you could take home $1000 cash!
  • Garnduwa Basketball Carnival - witness teenages from remote Kimberley communities battle it out to become this year’s basketball champion.
